"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."   Colossians 2:6-7

Policy about Phones/Smart Watches: Our policy for phones on campus continues to be a vital part of how we provide a structured learning environment for our students. This school year, we have had increasing cases of students using their phones in the locker rooms/bathrooms and texting from their smart watches. This is a reminder that all communication devices must be OFF while on campus - this includes smart watches.  Previously, if students' phones were turned off, as our policy stated, the smart watches couldn’t act like a communication tool. We are increasingly finding that is no longer true. This presents a distraction to the learning environment. Beginning January 31st, smart watches (e.g. Apple Watch or other brands that have communication ability) will be considered a communication device, even in "school mode". Students will be asked to take their watches off if they have them on. If your child has a smart watch, please remind them to leave it at home or in a backpack/athletic bag during school hours.

GoGuardian at Home

GoGuardian Parent mobile app is designed to provide parents/guardians insight and control over their student's online activity when on school-managed devices and accounts. First, the GoGuardian Parent app provides an overview of your children's online activity on school-managed devices and accounts.  This overview includes the apps, extensions, documents, and websites your student visited. Second, GoGuardian Parent provides you with an additional set of internet controls that you can set for out-of-school hours. GoGuardian Parent was created to help provide students additional educational support and is a companion to the classroom engagement and internet filtering tools that our school uses.

5th Grade Homework Expectations

Homework is a very important part of TKLS education.  Your child will have homework and quizzes weekly.  Our homework calendar will let you know assignments, quizzes and tests that are coming up and when they will be due.  Please help your child to get in the habit of carving out time to study and complete homework.   We do offer daily study halls for students who find it difficult to complete work or study at home.  If assignments are turned in late, you will receive a notification and 10 points will be deducted from your child's grade for that assignment.   A link is also located in the Resource Documents section.

How to Access Clever from Home

The easiest way to access Clever (at home OR school) is via a student’s “Clever  badge” (a QR code that students should keep in their binder). There is an alternate method if the badge is unavailable. See steps below:

**If you don’t have a Clever badge, you can “sign in with Google.” You will use your child’s Trinity email address (firstname.lastname@tkeagles.org) and password.  Note that the email address uses the full first name, not a nickname.

**If there is a problem with access in Google Classroom, start by double checking that your child is logged into Google through their Trinity account. (HINT: Look for the profile picture near the nine-dot “waffle” when you are on Google. Many times parents will see that Google has defaulted to their account or to their child’s personal account. Your child’s profile picture for their Trinity account should be their first-name initial. When you hover over the profile picture, it should show your child’s Trinity email address. If it does not show, click the profile picture and click “add account” to enter your child’s information.
